Prezi: A presentation piece of software like Microsoft's Power Point or Apple's Keynote that is pumped up on human growth hormones or steroids. It allows a person to incorporate videos and pictures with no limitations except for subscription megabyte storage limits. Literally there is no perimeter limitation on how spread out a person's creation can be like there is with Power Point and Keynote. Prezis allow students to work together on the same project using two or more computers or iPads whether they are across the room or across the country. Initially, one can sign up for a free account with 100 MB. After that there is a 500 MB limit paying a $59 yearly subscription rate. Then there is the ultimate storage limit that includes 2 Gigs which is currently going for a $159 yearly subscription rate. If a person lacks time or creativeness, there are customizable themes or templates one can use. Images, PDFs, videos (WMAs is what worked for me.), and YouTube videos can be imported. Prezis can be saved on a computer. (Although one caveat, with the free account no changes can be made unless logged in your Prezi account.)
There are dozens of examples on the Prezi website which show how creative a person can be. High school students in a business class can learn to create an electronic resume or portfolio using the Prezi software. Social Studies and history teachers can assign a topic that must include certain facts. How those facts are presented are left up to the creativeness of the student. Once students have completed their Prezis, each can be presented on a Smartboard or computer/projector screen combination. Really there is no limit on what level of student or what subject or topic can be used with this software.
